Utrecht's Answer to Calvados

Kracht — Dutch for "strength" — is Vol-Spirits' magnificent apple and pear eau de vie, crafted in Utrecht in the tradition of a fine Calvados. Made from apples and pears sourced from small local orchards that still use traditional high-stem trees, this is a spirit that carries the character of its landscape in every sip.

Distilled in a copper still and bottled at 40% ABV, Kracht is powerful and robust yet beautifully balanced — a digestif to savour by the fireplace with a good book. The 2022 vintage was awarded a Bronze medal at the IWSC (International Wine & Spirits Competition), and previous vintages (2022 and 2023) sold out entirely. A collector's spirit from one of Utrecht's most exciting craft distilleries.

Tasting notes: Aromas of ripe apple, baked pear, and warm spice. On the palate: rich orchard fruit, a touch of oak, and a long, warming finish with a hint of vanilla and dried fruit.

How to enjoy

• Neat, at room temperature or slightly chilled, as a digestif
