Claerkampster Cloosterbitter is a traditional Frisian herbal bitter from Boomsma — one of the oldest distilleries in the Netherlands, based in Leeuwarden, Friesland. Named after the historic Claerkamp monastery, a 12th-century Cistercian abbey that once stood in the Frisian countryside, this bitter carries centuries of monastic herbal craft in every bottle.
Pour a glass and you're immediately met with a deep amber hue and an aromatic nose of dried herbs, bitter roots, and warm spice. On the palate it opens with a satisfying bitterness — earthy, complex, and layered — before softening into gentle sweetness and a long, dry finish. The kind of digestif that makes you slow down and savour the moment.
A true Dutch classic, equally at home after a long dinner or sipped neat on a quiet evening.
