W.D. O'Connell's Union Road is a 5-year-old Irish whiskey bottled by WDO Whiskey Merchants, matured across four cask types — ex-bourbon, new oak, ex-oloroso sherry, and recharred bourbon — for a richly layered and approachable dram that punches well above its age statement.

The nose is inviting and sweet, with notes of toffee, toasted vanilla, dried fruit, and a gentle nuttiness from the sherry influence. On the palate, the four-cask maturation reveals itself in waves: creamy bourbon sweetness, fresh oak spice, dark raisin, and a hint of smoke from the recharred casks. The finish is medium-length, warm, and gently spiced.

Bottled at 43% ABV — an excellent everyday Irish whiskey with genuine complexity.
