Ledaig at Cask Strength, for the First Time
Hebridean Moon marks a milestone for Tobermory Distillery: the first time Ledaig has been released as a ten-year-old at cask strength. The inspiration for this limited edition came from the Baliscate Standing Stones — the famous series of menhirs on the Isle of Mull — and the artwork, created in collaboration with wildlife filmmaker Gordon Buchanan, captures their ancient, moonlit atmosphere perfectly.
The whisky was distilled in 2014 in the newly installed stills at Tobermory, then matured exclusively in bourbon casks for ten years. In 2025, just 7,000 bottles were released at a cask strength of 58.8%. It is non-chill filtered and retains its natural colour — exactly as it came from the cask.
Tasting notes: Colour: gold. Nose: aromas of earthy peat smoke, vanilla, cream, candied fruit, fine spices, and an accent of black pepper. Taste: notes of citrus fruit, lemon tart, new leather, tobacco, and toasted oak. The finish has notes of medicinal peat smoke, cinnamon, and clove.
