Abruzzo's Oldest Liqueur — Since 1817
Centerba Toro is a high-quality herbal liqueur from Abruzzo, Italy — the symbol of the Toro Distillery and one of the oldest spirits in Italy. Created in 1817 from a secret recipe by Beniamino Toro, an Abruzzo pharmacist from Tocco da Casauria, its origins are thought to date back to the Middle Ages. It has since become a traditional product known and appreciated throughout the world.
The wild herbs and aromatic spices that give this liqueur its inimitable, bright green colour are hand-picked on the Maiella and Morrone mountains of Abruzzo — well known in herbal medicine for their specific qualities and virtues. The herbs are macerated in high-quality alcohol and infused in special containers, guaranteeing a unique, consistently exceptional product.
At 70% ABV, Centerba Forte is not for the faint-hearted. After the initial impact, consumers appreciate its remarkable balance and freshness. Used since the dawn of its history as a medicine, it is today a highly prized after-dinner drink — and a key ingredient in many cocktails and recipes.
Tasting notes: Vivid bright green colour. The nose is intensely herbal — wild mountain herbs, menthol, and aromatic spices. On the palate: dry, strong, and bitter with a persistent herbal complexity and a long, warming, refreshing finish.
