Génépi des Pères Chartreux is a distinguished herbal liqueur crafted by the Carthusian monks using alpine Artemisia ("génépi") flowers native to the Savoy region. This traditional French digestif is produced through careful maceration of the flowers in neutral spirit, followed by redistillation with additional botanicals.
With a natural golden-green hue, the liqueur offers a complex aromatic profile featuring bright green herbs, aniseed, black licorice, caramel, rooty spices, and floral notes, all balanced with a gentle sweetness. On the palate, expect a fragrant herbaceous character reminiscent of chamomile or feverfew, accompanied by lightly bitter undertones typical of high-altitude botanicals.
Traditionally served chilled between 10–12 °C or over ice, Génépi des Pères Chartreux is regarded as an elegant alpine after-dinner digestif—a thoughtful expression of mountain terroir and monastic craftsmanship.
