Nikaido Mugi Shochu is a classic Japanese barley shochu produced by Nikaido Shuzou, a family-owned distillery with over 150 years of history in Kyushu. Widely recognised as the pioneer of 100% barley (mugi) shochu, Nikaido’s innovations in vacuum-distilled barley shochu helped define the modern mugi style and drive its popularity throughout Japan.

Made purely from selected barley, barley koji and pristine water, this shochu is distilled to emphasise clean, subtle grain character and smooth drinkability. The aroma offers light floral and gentle grain notes, while the palate delivers balanced sweetness with soft cereal and toast undertones, followed by a clean, refreshing finish. Bottled at typical shochu strength, Nikaido Mugi Shochu is versatile and can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, with chilled water, or gently warmed depending on preference.
