Bakkan Nasake Shima is a barley-based (mugi) shōchū crafted on Hachijō-jima, a remote volcanic island south of Tokyo. Produced using traditional methods by the Hachijō Distillery, this shōchū is distilled at atmospheric pressure. Nasake Shima preserves the full grain flavour of barley and wheat malt, offering delicate aromas of light grain, subtle umami, and soft citrus peel.
The palate is smooth and dry, with a gently warming finish that makes it ideal for sipping neat, over ice, or diluted with hot water in the colder months reflects the island’s pure air, mineral-rich water, and coastal climate—resulting in a spirit that’s both clean and characterful. Whether you're a seasoned shōchū drinker or exploring Japan’s native spirits for the first time, Bakkan Nasake Shima offers a uniquely coastal, mineral-driven profile that’s versatile, food-friendly, and deeply tied to its island origins.
