Uguisu Tomari is a specially selected Japanese umeshu crafted by Uguisu Shuzo. Made by steeping generous quantities of high-quality green ume plums in the brewery’s homemade sake-lees shochu, this plum liqueur is then aged to preserve freshness while developing depth and structure.
Unlike many sweeter styles, Uguisu Tomari is deliberately dry in profile, tightly capturing the fresh aroma and rich extract of green plums. The nose is vivid and natural, with bright plum skin, light almond, and subtle fermentation notes. On the palate, it is clean, focused, and elegant, balancing gentle fruit intensity with restrained sweetness and a crisp, dry finish.
Bottled at 12% ABV, Uguisu Tomari is excellent served chilled, over ice, or with a splash of soda, and works beautifully as a refined aperitif or food-friendly digestif. A precise, modern expression of umeshu for drinkers who value balance over sweetness.
