Collection: Chartreuse

Chartreuse is made by the Carthusian monks, who have produced it since 1737 from a 1605 manuscript for an "elixir of long life". The recipe reportedly uses 130 herbs, plants and flowers, and only a few monks know the full blend. Since 2017 the liqueur has been made at their distillery in Aiguenoire.

Green Chartreuse, at 55%, has been made in its modern form since 1840. Yellow Chartreuse, at 43%, is milder and sweeter. The VEP versions, short for "Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolongé", use the same recipes aged much longer in oak. We also have the 2026 VEP Green & Yellow combination.

The monks also make a Génépi des Pères Chartreux, an Alpine liqueur made from Artemisia flowers.
