Frequently asked questions about cider
Where can I buy cider in Utrecht?
At Daan’s Drinks on the Vismarkt 2, right by the Dom Tower. We stock craft cider and perry from England, Ireland, Scotland, France, the Basque Country, Norway, Estonia and the Netherlands. Order online and collect with Click & Collect, or come in and ask us for advice.
What kinds of cider do you have?
Everything from easy-drinking Irish cider like Mac Ivors to French farmhouse cider from Duclos-Fougeray, Basque sagardoa from Bereziartua, Cornish scrumpy from Healey’s and barrel-aged cider like Thistly Cross Whisky Cask. For something sparkling and dry, try Jaanihanso from Estonia.
How do you serve cider?
Most cider tastes best chilled, at around 8 to 10 °C. Pour Basque sagardoa from a height to wake up its light fizz, and serve bottle-fermented sparkling cider in a wine glass, just like Champagne.
Do you have alcohol-free cider?
Yes. Mac Ivors Alcohol Free Cider is a crisp Irish cider without the alcohol, and you’ll find more alcohol-free drinks in our non-alcoholic range.
Can I taste cider before I buy?
Yes. In the shop, if we have a bottle open, we’re happy to let you taste before you choose, and at our tastings you can try several styles side by side.
