Collection: Shōchū

Japan's favourite distilled spirit: honkaku shōchū made from barley, sweet potato and rice. Enjoy it on the rocks, with hot or cold water, or as the base of a highball.

Shōchū is Japan's own distilled spirit, usually bottled at around 25% ABV. Honkaku (authentic) shōchū is single-distilled to keep the flavour of its base ingredient: barley (mugi) is light and nutty, sweet potato (imo) is earthy and aromatic, and rice shōchū is soft and clean.

Our selection includes Nikaido and Munemasa barley shōchū, Osuzuyama Yamasaru, Yamaneko and Yamadaichi sweet potato shōchū, Kiyou and Nonnoko, plus Bakkan Nasake Shima from Japan's islands. Drink it on the rocks, mixed with cold or hot water (oyuwari), or as a refreshing chūhai highball with soda and citrus.
