Yamadaichi One is a traditional imo (sweet potato) honkaku shochu produced by Ooyama Jinhichi Shuzo in Kagoshima, the heartland of sweet potato shochu. Crafted using carefully selected sweet potatoes and traditional fermentation methods, it reflects the region’s deep-rooted shochu heritage.
On the nose, it shows earthy, slightly nutty aromas with hints of roasted sweet potato and subtle sweetness. The palate is smooth and rounded, delivering gentle umami, soft sweetness and a dry, clean finish that keeps it highly drinkable. Compared to barley shochu, imo shochu offers more depth and character, with a distinctive savoury edge.
Versatile and food-friendly, Yamadaichi One can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, with water or gently warmed to enhance its aromatic complexity. A classic expression of authentic Japanese sweet potato shochu.
