Few whiskies command the reverence of a Glenfarclas 50 Year Old. Distilled and patiently matured for half a century on the slopes of Ben Rinnes in Speyside, this is a rare and extraordinary expression from one of Scotland's last remaining family-owned distilleries — the Grant family, now in their sixth generation.
This Special Release was personally selected by John Grant, sixth-generation owner of Glenfarclas, and Callum Fraser, the distillery's long-serving manager — two custodians who have dedicated their lives to preserving the integrity and character of this remarkable distillery. Their combined expertise and patience is what makes a whisky like this possible.
With only 836 bottles ever produced, this is one of the most limited releases in Glenfarclas history. Each bottle is individually numbered, making it as much a collector's artefact as it is a whisky of extraordinary depth.
Glenfarclas is renowned for its unwavering commitment to sherry cask maturation, and at 50 years old, that influence is profound. The nose opens with dried fruits, aged leather, dark chocolate, and warm Christmas spice. On the palate, rich Oloroso sherry, candied orange peel, tobacco leaf, and roasted oak unfold with extraordinary complexity. The finish is exceptionally long, warming, and refined — a whisky that lingers long after the glass is empty.
