Frequently asked questions about wine
Where can I buy wine in Utrecht?
At Daan’s Drinks on the Vismarkt 2, right by the Dom Tower. We focus on wine from small producers, from Portugal and France to Greece and Italy, plus Champagne and sparkling wine. Order online and collect with Click & Collect, or come in and ask us for advice.
Do you have Champagne and sparkling wine?
Yes. Champagne from Cazals and Maurice Phillart, the latter also in handy half bottles in white and rosé, plus Bosco Prosecco, Petrone 68 and a natural pét-nat from Casa da Tojeira in Portugal.
Can you help me choose a wine for dinner or as a gift?
Of course. Tell us what you’re cooking or who it’s for and we’ll suggest a bottle. Try Les Grappes from Domaine de Maouries as an easy red, Cuvée des Demoiselles white Bordeaux with fish, or Domaine Le Galantin Bandol rosé on a sunny day. We’re happy to gift-wrap it.
How should I store and serve wine?
Store bottles lying down somewhere cool and dark. Serve white, rosé and sparkling wine chilled, at around 8 to 10 °C, and red slightly below room temperature, at around 16 to 18 °C. An opened bottle keeps for two to three days in the fridge with a stopper.
Can I taste wine before I buy?
Yes. In the shop, if we have a bottle open, we’re happy to let you taste before you choose, and at our tastings you can try several styles side by side.
